infra

I've been seeing these around the web recently, assuming they were just photoshopped vintage photos. They're actually part of photographer Richard Mosse's Infra series, of Eastern Congo warzones taken using Kodak Aerochrome infrared film. Aerochrome was used by the military to discover camouflaged buildings, as while healthy vegetation turns out in pinks or reds, the camouflage turns out darker purples or blues. Anyway, it's beautiful.

  1. I have the bottom image as my desktop background. Aren't they beautiful?

  2. They are :) there are some in the series that are rather depressing, but they're an interesting way of seeing the world.
